JULY 2024 Student of the Month: Becca G.
When did you start your pole journey?
I started my journey with Pole Pressure in September of 2019!
Why did you decide to try pole classes at Pole Pressure?
I decided on a whim to host a pole party at Pole Pressure! I had such an amazing time that I attended the Hairspray Poleusical being hosted there and then started taking lyra classes and pole classes. I absolutely love Pole Pressure. The instructors are wonderful and I always leave classes feeling energized, confident and proud.
The classes are so much fun, lyra and pole have made me feel stronger, more confident and meet amazing and strong people. I'm so grateful to have chosen Pole Pressure for my party years ago!
What do you love most about pole classes at Pole Pressure?
My favorite part about pole dancing is how strong it makes me feel both mentally and physically.
I would say mentally because in some circles in my life pole dancing is still taboo and I feel very proud to go against people's preconceived notions of what pole dancing is supposed to be or what it is supposed to be associated with. I love it as a sport and fitness but I also have so much respect for the origins of it. Pole dancers are incredibly strong! I am constantly amazed by them no matter if they are 13, 50 or some age in- between.
Physically, pole dancing just takes a lot of full body strength so I love that I am constantly challenging by body in each class no matter if it's focused on stretching, climbing, spins, inverts, lyra poses or handstands. I can see my body changing and I love how confident it makes me feel.
My favorite part about classes at Pole Pressure are the instructors and the community! All of the instructors are so skilled, great teachers and make classes fun and challenging! The community and friends I make are a cherry on top.
If you could train with any of your pole idols, who would it be and why?
I would say Greshilov Evgeny, 7-time International Pole Champion, and Morgane Tisserand, a performer for Cirque du Soleil. Both are incredibly talented and successful artists and it would be an honor to learn from either of them!
What motivates you to train?
The love of the sport! Pole and lyra give me such a boost of serotonin and I genuinely feel elated knowing I have pole or lyra class later that day after work (or in the morning if I get myself to wake up early Saturday for one of Julia's classes)!
What are some of your goals for this year?
Some of my goals for this year are to continue to work on my splits, get more comfortable with combos and spins regarding both lyra and pole and also just have fun!
Why do you love Pole Pressure?
The people! The instructors are fantastic. They are really experienced, are constantly training themselves and pushing themselves and are encouraging and fun. I also love the class sizes at Pole Pressure.
They are just the right size where you get some personal attention for technique adjustment from instructors but also have room to explore on your own with new moves. There are also constantly new fun workshops or events to try such as split training, duo pole workshops or unique showcases just for fun or as a part of a musical.
